Turfgrass selection is arguably the most important factor in developing and maintaining a high quality, problem-free turf. Selection should be based on hours of sunlight, the environment, expected turf use, and the expected management intensity.
NG Turf offers an excellent selection of turfgrasses to meet the diverse needs of the home, landscape, sports field and golf markets.
Turfgrasses are divided into two large categories – cool season and warm season.
Warm season grasses include Bermuda, Centipede, and Zoysia. These species go dormant in the winter months and the turf turns brown. The growing season is generally from about April through September. Maximum turf growth is in the warmest months.
Cool season grasses such as Fescue maintain their green color all year although they grow very little during the coldest and hottest months of the year. These grasses will thin out when temperatures are above 90°F and will need reseeding in the Fall to maintain maximum turf density. The turf type Fescue used in this climate is a blend of several species that have been chosen to withstand our hot, humid weather in Georgia.
